About the choir.

.
Northern Praeclassica is a chamber choir, nominally of twenty-four members, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. It was formed in 1973 initially to perform sacred music of the 16th Century, but over the years the repertoire has been extended to embrace choral music of all periods.
Sacred and secular, accompanied and unaccompanied, large and small scale works: all appear on the Choir’s programmes. In a typical year we stage three concerts, of which one is on a larger scale. In addition to these core activities, we have social events such as our annual dinner and regular post-concert parties.
We have participated in a wide variety of other musical activities including Christmas carol concerts and services, large-scale choral works with other choirs, special church services and celebrations, weddings, and private functions.
